Denise has been helping clients identify and meet their financial goals since 1990. In 1994, she launched
Petersen Investment Planning. She is affiliated with Royal Alliance Associates, Inc., an independent
broker-dealer. She is also a member of the investment advisory firm NWF Advisory Services, Inc. She
feels being an independent financial advisor allows her the flexibility to best meet her clients’ needs.
Her passion is working with clients. This includes structuring portfolios to meet future income needs
(from college costs to retirement), while building plans with an eye towards tax efficiency. She works
with small businesses on retirement plans and employee benefit options. She evaluates financial risks to
clients from long term illnesses, disability, or death and helps find ways to mitigate the potential
financial impact on families and loved ones.
Denise is a graduate of Oregon State University. She was a multi-sport athlete and was inducted into the
OSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 2022. She was honored as a Title IX Trailblazer as a member of the 1977
softball team. This was the first team from OSU to participate in the AIAW College World Series. The
1979 and 1980 softball teams, of which she was a member, were also inducted for their 7th and 5th place
finishes.
Denise’s top values are relationships, integrity, health, education, and happiness. Thus, she is a lifelong
learner who loves the challenges presented by working in the always changing field of finance. She is
deeply grateful for the friendships she has made over the years and the trust her clients have placed in
her. She enjoys watching and participating in sports and recreational activities, laughing through funny
movies, and traveling to new places.
Denise holds an insurance license which allows her to help clients with annuities, life insurance and
Long-Term Care when needed. She holds Series 7, 63 & 65 securities registrations, Series 31 for
managed commodities, as well as a Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor (CPFA) designation.
